Kind Steps (a walking practice)
Transcript
Kind steps. A walking practice.
Stand tall, with your feet about hip width apart.
Feel the ground holding you up.
Take one easy breath in.
And out.
Begin to walk, a little slower than usual.
Notice the heel touching down.
Then the middle of the foot.
Then the toes.
Let your arms swing loose and easy.
With each step, you might silently say. Kind.
And with the next step. Soft.
Kind.
Soft.
Kind.
Soft.
Now let your eyes take in what is around you. A tree. The sky. A dog on a walk.
Everything you see is part of the same big day.
If your mind drifts to your list of things to do, that is okay. Come back to the feet.
Kind.
Soft.
Kind.
Soft.
Keep walking this way for a few more steps.
Now slowly come to a stop. Stand still and feel your body.
Take one full breath in.
And let it go.
Walk into the rest of your day with kind steps.
Do only good, every day.
