Winding down, for the evening.

Let the day come to a close.

Lie down, or sit somewhere soft, and let yourself be held.

Take a slow breath in through the nose.

And let it go, slowly, through the mouth.

Once more. In.

And out.

Bring your attention to the top of your head. Let it soften.

Soften the forehead. The space between the eyebrows.

Let the eyes grow heavy.

Unclench the jaw. Let the tongue rest.

Let the shoulders sink down, away from the ears.

Feel the arms grow heavy. The elbows. The wrists. The hands.

Let the chest rise and fall on its own. No effort.

Soften the belly. Nothing to hold in.

Let the hips grow heavy, sinking into the bed or the floor.

Feel the legs relax. The knees. The calves. The ankles.

And finally the feet, all the way to the tips of the toes.

The whole body is soft now. Heavy. Warm. Safe.

Whatever happened today, you can set it down for now.

The good you did today still counts, even the small things.

The rest can wait until morning.

Breathe in rest.

Breathe out the day.

Stay here as long as you like. Let sleep come when it is ready.

Good night. Do only good, every day.
